Thales’s Industry Engagement Unit (IEU) is a dedicated specialist
team that works closely with the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) to
facilitate opportunities for Australian defence industry in Thales’s
global supply chains.
The IEU is based in Australia, with team
members in the United Kingdom and France providing comprehensive local
support in target markets.
Key IEU tasks include:
- Liaising with Thales’s global business units to identify potential opportunities
- Partnering with the DMO to identify compatible essential local industry capabilities
- Supporting relationships between Australian SMEs and Thales’s global business units
- Mentoring Australian industry on opportunities in Thales’s European markets
- Developing and distributing expressions of interest for relevant technologies/products
- Coordinating international visits by Australian companies to Thales Group.
Searching for new opportunities
Thales
is constantly searching for potential opportunities for industry,
primarily in Europe, while simultaneously helping companies succeed in a
highly competitive international marketplace.
The GSC program’s
advantages for industry include greater export opportunities, access to
Thales’s extensive supply chains, increased knowledge of current and
future projects, and direct connections with relevant Thales
decision-makers across the business.
Our competitive focus
To
compete in the global marketplace, Australian defence industry not only
needs to provide strong capabilities, but also needs to differentiate
itself against global competitors and be driven to succeed.
Companies
also need to commit themselves over the long term, and be prepared to
dedicate appropriate resources to meet potentially significant
challenges during the process.
Although most opportunities are in
the defence sector, there may also be opportunities in Thales’s
substantial other businesses - aerospace, space, security, and
transportation.
