Thales has a legacy of over 100 years of successful operation in the United States.

In fact, Thales predecessor, Thomson CSF, traces its roots to Thomson-Houston Electric Company, begun in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1892. Today, the Thales Group’s global “multi-domestic strategy” has led to a U.S. presence that includes eighteen primary operations in thirteen states, and over 2,900 employees, including both Thales personnel and employees of our joint venture companies.

Thales’s focus in the U.S. is fixed on the naval, land forces, commercial aviation, military aviation, security and transportation and space domains. Serving domestic (U.S.) and overseas customers, Thales U.S. operations include research, development, manufacturing, training and sales/marketing.

Thales USA Defense & Security, Inc. is a new organization created in 2009 within Thales USA, focused on the defense and security markets. This organization will expand U.S. presence in support of DoD and DHS programs, working with industry partners and directly with the government customer.
