Thales has
developed platform engineering capabilities as a key part of the company
services to the naval market, to support combat system design and management of
major weapon and sensor upgrades on in-service vessels, and where appropriate
manage the complete warship capability through life
In the UK
Thales has led the industry ship design team with partner companies which
delivered the solution selected by the MoD customer for the Queen Elizabeth
class aircraft carriers, now in production by the Aircraft Carrier Alliance. Thales is also the prime contractor for the
Hunt Class MCMV ship reactivation and mine warfare systems refit for the
Lithuanian Navy and is supporting other naval upgrade programmes in the
international market. Thales is
supporting the UK MoD led multi-company Naval Design Partnership with naval
architecture and combat systems design skills.
In Australia
Thales manages the Garden Island dockyard facility in Sydney for the RAN and
manages warship upgrades, currently completing the major refit and life
extension of the FFG destroyers. Thales
manages the RAN mine warfare fleet on a whole ship availability basis and
conducts platform and combat systems waterfront support services.

Australia Thales is managing the major East Coast naval dockyard with services
including ship modification design packages, data configuration, and systems
integration activities as part of the in-service support to the Fleet.
