It initiates the building of a hybrid infrastructure, combining satellite and terrestrial networks, providing both universal coverage and indoor penetration for Mobile TV services. W2A’s S-band payload also enables other communications services, for example for security communications or crisis management.
The Globalstar system is a constellation of LEO satellites providing mobile satellite voice and data services. As prime contractor, at Thales Alenia Space we design, manufacture and deliver the 48 LEO Globalstar satellites as well as related services such as launch and operations support.
