On January 13, 2010 in Berlin, the first International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct (IFBEC), of which Thales is a partner, will take place.

Following the signing of the Global Principles* on Business Ethics by the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) and the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA) on October 2 in Helsinki, the two industry associations have decided to pursue the development of the principles and to extend them to other countries through the International Forum on Business Ethical Conduct (IFBEC).

IFBEC, of which Thales is a founding and leading member, is organising its first conference on January 13, 2010 in Berlin and will bring together American and European industrialists from the sector. Representatives from major institutions such as the European Defence Agency, NATO or Ministries of Defence; research centres, NGOs and other stakeholders will also participate.

The forum aims to strengthen exchange between industrial, institutional and state players of the sector, to participate in the development of fair competition rules, but also to demonstrate the commitment of the sector’s industrialists to business ethics.

* The Global Principles negotiated between European and American companies focus on four main points: zero tolerance on corruption, management of consultants, management of conflicts of interest, respect for confidential information, and will eventually be extended to other areas (for example, export control).
