ESA's CryoSat mission, that should be launched early next year, will enable to monitor precise change in the thickness of the polar ice sheets and floating sea ice. Thales Alenia Space plays a major role in CryoSat satellite by providing the SIRAL radar altimeter, the mission primary instrument. The results provided by SIRAL will enable to better understand climate change as well as analyze and predict global warming trends.
