Thales has published its latest Corporate Responsibility Report, jointly produced by the Ethics and Corporate Responsibility department and Corporate Communications. To highlight the importance of this aspect of the company's business, the Group has also given greater visibility to the subject via a new portal on the company website.
The 2009 Corporate Responsibility Report, presented in a new format which is accessible electronically to individuals with visual impairments (AcceDe Standard), highlights hard facts and data about the fundamental issues that could have an impact on the company’s future success and viability. It covers the following areas:
- Corporate responsibility and business performance.
- Exporting worldwide with integrity.
- Ensuring compliance with international and national regulations.
- Preparing the workforce for tomorrow’s opportunities and challenges.
- Protecting the environment.
- Engaging with the community.
In his preface to the report, Luc Vigneron, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, outlines the key issues facing Thales: “Good intentions are simply not enough for a company that’s serious about integrity and acting responsibly.” He continues by outlining the need for action “Companies need to provide tangible evidence of their commitment to ethical conduct..For Thales, ethical conduct and corporate responsibility are key assets in its strategic plan for success.”
A new web portal
This desire to provide tangible evidence of the Group’s intentions in this domain is reinforced through the redesign of the Corporate Responsibility section on the company internet, and the launch of a new dedicated domain: http://sustainability.thalesgroup.com . This portal gives visitors full information on company policies, access to various reports, and articles and news concerning the Group’s initiatives in business ethics and sustainability, highlighting the critical role corporate responsibility plays for the company.
