For years, the number of shoulder-launched Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) or MAN Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS) has been constantly and rapidly increasing. In service with many armed forces, uncontrolled paramilitary groups also own SAMs or MANPADS. Undetectable until they are fired, light and easy to operate, MANPADS can be used against all kinds of aircraft and helicopters. Because of their low cost, they are a threat all over the world. Recent conflicts demonstrated the vulnerability of transport aircraft, helicopters and VIP business jets to such missiles. Designed to counter these threats and all other types of missile threats, MWS-20 is an effective active Missile Approach Warner (MAW) providing timely and dependable missile detection for chaff and flares dispensing.
SWITCH-ON-AND-FORGET DEVICE
Belonging to the latest generation of MAW, MWS-20 combines excellent detection performances with an extremely low false-alarm rate in all flight and weather conditions. All threatening missiles are continuously tracked and analysed. In the event of immediate danger, MWS-20 automatically triggers the most appropriate countermeasures. Acting as a "switch-on-and-forget" device, the MWS-20 does not require crew actions, thus not increasing workloadduring critical mission phases. Light and compact, MWS-20 is very easy to install even on the smallest platforms.
