In service since 2009, the Dubai metro is the longest driverless metro in the world, offering optimal life-cycle costs due to low maintenance overheads and operating costs. It is equipped with an entire package of Thales solutions including:
- SelTrac® CBTC signalling solution
- An integrated telecommunications, security, passenger information system.
- An Operation Control and Supervision system
Demonstrating world-class systems integration capabilities, Thales also provides a complete end-to-end fare collection solution, including car park management and an advanced multimodal ticketing system. With up to 250,000 transactions per day, the system manages special fares for students, senior citizens and disabled passengers – all being achieved with a single central processing system.
Furthermore, Thales has also bestowed:
- 160 ticket vending machines
- Approximately 400 access gates
- 30 portable checking machines
The Group has also been awarded in 2015 a five-year service-level agreement with Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Serco to provide maintenance support services to the metro network.
In 2016, Thales was selected by Alstom and Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) to deliver the systems extension and upgrade of Dubai metro’s Red line.
