In Latvia, Thales holds a strong position within the Transportation area and within existing maintenance and services agreements for the signaling equipment where Thales delivers excellent quality to Latvian Railways to ensure smooth rail operation. The know-how and capabilities established in Latvia build a perfect starting point for future activities in the Baltic region and other neighboring countries.
In 2011, Thales designed and implemented 32 interlocking on the 350 km East-West Corridor including the field equipment and 2 CTCs (central traffic control) within the framework of the SiGEWC project for Latvian Railways (LDz). In 2015, the Liepaja station was successfully modernized and commissioned by Thales including the integration into the existing CTC (central traffic control). In 2019, a third track was built in the Liepaja port area by the Liepaja Port Authority where Thales delivered an upgrade of the existing interlocking.
