Thales technology drives network integration

With more than 1,200 kilometres of the country's rail lines using its signalling and communication solutions, Thales has emerged as the market leader in integrated transport systems in Portugal.

As Thales pursues its multidomestic strategy, the company has built up a very operational presence in Portugal, largely centred on the ground transportation business. The latest major reference; The Lisbon Rail Operational Control Centre  came on-stream in recently, helping the company to corner 60% of the national market for rail solutions and services.

"We intend to become the benchmark provider of mission critical systems and services in Portugal," says João Araújo, Thales Country Corporate Director..

More generally, Thales intends to expand its involvement into other areas such as security solutions for critical infrastructure, and to contribute to a number of large-scale local projects including Portugal's high-speed rail lines.
