Thales names Retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Robert G. Sprigg Vice President of ThalesÂ’ Naval activities in the U.S.

Alexandria, VA, April 26, 2007 - Thales has appointed retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Robert G. Sprigg to the position of Vice President of Thales' naval activities in the U.S. In this role, Sprigg will report to Allan Cameron, Thales North America Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Jean-Georges Malcor, Senior Vice President of the Thales Group's naval activities.

Sprigg will be responsible for engaging U.S. Navy and industry partners' priorities and ensuring alignment of Thales solutions and support to meet customer needs. "Admiral Sprigg is an ideal addition to Thales North America given his leadership skills and vast experience in the evolving naval domain, "said Allan Cameron, Chairman and CEO of Thales North America. "His direct, hands-on approach to customer engagements will undoubtedly strengthen Thales's naval offering."

Following his career in the U.S. Navy, Sprigg most recently served for four years as the Director, Strategic Business Development and Advanced Warfare Concepts for Bath Iron Works, a subsidiary of General Dynamics. Through the course of his career in the U.S. Navy, Sprigg served as Commander, Navy Warfare Development Command; Commander, Carrier Group TWO, Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Policy, HQ of the Supreme Allied Commander, Atlantic; Commanding Officer of the USS George Washington (CVN-73); Commanding Officer of the USS Camden (AOE 2), and Commanding Officer of the Strike Fighter Squadron One One Three.

Sprigg has his Masters of Sciences in Aeronautical Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School. He earned his bachelor's degree from the United States Naval Academy, as a designated Naval Test Pilot and is a graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power School.

Thales' successes in the naval domain in the U.S. in recent years include Tacticos® combat management systems, in a partnership with Northrop Grumman, for the General Dynamics Littoral Combat Ship, the Top Owl® helmet mounted display for the Marine Corps, and ALFS® underwater sonar systems for the U.S. Navy.
