Thales Alenia Space @ FIDAE 2008

CONTACT
FIDAE 2008, to be held from March 31 to April 6 at Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago, Chile, will once again be one of Latin America’s key aerospace industry events.

Showcasing innovations in the fields of civil and military aviation, FIDAE (Feria Internacional Del Aire y del Espacio) offers a valuable platform for vendors and customers: in 2006, the show attracted 380 exhibitors from 45 countries, with more than 130,000 visitors.

This year, Thales Alenia Space will share the booth with Thales and will highlight:

Pleiades HR Instrument
The Pleiades project is part of the French-Italian observation system
ORFEO, which covers both civil and military requirements: Pleiades is the high-resolution optical imaging component of this system, while Cosmo-SkyMed provides radar imaging. The high-resolution imaging instruments offer high resolution (70 cm) and a wide field of view (20 km), and produce images in both the visible and near-infrared bands.

COSMO SKYMED
As program prime contractor, Thales Alenia Space provides the Italian
Ministry of Defense and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) with the first dual satellite-based Earth observation system manufactured in Europe, the COSMO-SkyMed constellation. This constellation, based on four 4 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites in X band, will enable to manage environmental risks, and will undertake territorial and security surveillance for civil and military applications.
The two first satellites of the constellation have been launched.
