The Aerospace Division of Thales is spread from the east to west coast in the United States and employs over 1,200 full-time employees. Called Thales Avionics, Inc., this business entity is a rapidly growing US company that is focused on providing Thales products and services to both civil and military markets.

Civil Markets
Thales prides itself on its commitment to be a best-in-class partner to both original equipment manufacturers and airlines. Dedicated professional teams are focused on building relationships that introduce new growth opportunities that ultimately benefit airlines and their passengers. Thales is a world leader of in-flight entertainment, power generation, standby instruments, landscape cameras, satellite communication technologies, flight-deck avionics systems, electrical power systems and surveillance equipment. In the US, Thales has state-of-the-art facilities in California, Washington and New Jersey.

Thales's in-flight entertainment (IFE) business is a global operation with its main office in California and regional locations in France, China and Singapore. In 2005, the company opened new state-of-the-art technical and business centres where the management team resides and product is designed and produced. The main product, called TopSeries, is a video and audio on-demand system that allows each passenger to select their entertainment choices. The TopSeries system became a market success early in its introduction phase and today is the system of choice for world airlines. Thales is an exporter of in-flight entertainment systems from the US to most continents, and in 2005 received the Frost & Sullivan Award for IFE Product Differentiation and Innovation.

The company's service organisation is a growing entity in the United States that serves the air transport, regional jet, business jet and helicopter markets. Thales provides a range of services which include repair and overhaul, spares parts sales, pre-owned equipment trading, distribution, logistical support, and training. Repair-by-the-Hour and Turnkey Maintenance programmes are also part of Thales's portfolio. In 2006, the service organisation opened a new Seattle facility which includes a state-of-the-art Maintenance Operation Centre that facilitates situation awareness and critical customer care. The US service operation is part of a global service network which is fully committed to maximum customer satisfaction.

Military Market
Thales is an international, leading supplier of technologies for military applications and is growing relations with US prime contractors and military offices. The company offers products that include surveillance cameras, cockpit avionics suites, helmet-mounted sight displays, and satellite communication technologies.

Investing in the US
Since the company's beginning, Thales continues to shape the organisation through mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures. In the US, the company is part of a joint venture with L-3 Communications. The business, called ACSS, has its main office in Phoenix, Arizona where advanced avoidance collision and surveillance products are produced and distributed through ACSS and Thales. Thales will continue to invest in the United States and is committed to making a contribution the US market and the communities in which it services.
