My career within Thales has been wide and varied. Having completed a formal engineering apprenticeship in the Group, I was trained as Programme Planner and worked on Electronic Warfare systems for ships and submarines. After nine years it was time for a fresh challenge and an opportunity arose in Thales Training & Simulation, working in the Programme Office for the Nimrod programme and then as Orion Programme Manager. Orion saw me relocate my family in Sydney for eighteen months and we were very fortunate to be there during the Olympic games and British Lions rugby tour. Sadly, Australian beer is not up to much, so I elected to return to the UK where I worked on a number of bids.

The move in March 2003 from the disciplined world of programme management to the more dynamic and creative world of Information Technology has not been without its challenges. There have been new technology, terminology and people to learn about and meet. My previous experience within the Thales Group has helped me to establish myself quickly and I believe it will be of great benefit to the IT department.
