Introducing the New Thales!

A wider scope of activities for a bigger, stronger group

Thales has recently sealed two strategic agreements, on the one hand with French naval player DCNS and on the other with Alcatel-Lucent in the fields of Transport, Security and Space.

The agreement with DCNS, destined to play a key role in the future consolidation of the European naval sector, is now operational and has enabled Thales to gain a 25% stake in the company and become its industry stakeholder-partner. This alliance strengthens and secures Thales's naval credentials both on key European programme and on a number of major export contracts.

Thales's agreement with Alcatel-Lucent has enabled the Group to be strengthened in the fields of Security, Ground Transportation and Space. The January 2007 transfer of Alcatel-Lucent's transportation and security activities to Thales has consolidated and reinforced Thales in the field of critical information systems for Transport, Energy and major infrastructures. Through the April 2007 acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent's stakes in two joint ventures with Finmeccanica, with whom Thales has formed a unique "Space Alliance", Thales has boosted its space and satellite capabilities, both of which bring an essential new dimension to the Group as they form an indispensable part of major information and communication systems, whether civil or military.

The New Thales is bigger and stronger than before. Bigger, with around 2 billion euros' worth of additional activity and 11,000 new employees joining the Group. And stronger with the arrival of new and complementary skills that make Thales a major world player with exceptional technological capabilities and leader in mission-critical information systems serving three markets: Defence, Aerospace, and Security.
