From laboratory research on wave diffraction to operational management in an industrial Unit: my career at Thales over the past 15 years even surprises me!
When I first got out of engineering school I was interested in mathematics research, and my CIFRE ‘(university-indusrial) Ph.D. gave me some unique know-how that opened Thales' doors. From Elancourt (near Paris) I was sent first to Brest (Brittany) to get in touch with "the real world of products" and then to Crawley (near London Gatwick airport) to discover the company's international aspects. Each time I moved I was put into a new context and given additional responsibilities... and faced new challenges in terms of career and family life.
Then I returned to the Paris area, to Bagneux, where I am now operations manager for a BL and industrial manager for the Air Systems Division. Technologies and businesses are constantly changing: I feel that geographical and professional mobility helps people adapt to changes, or even prepare for them in advance, while also renewing their interest in new and exciting subjects.
