Living in Canada since 1998, I worked for Bell Helicopter before joining Thales Avionics in Montreal where I moved from Purchasing to Production. That mobility let me gain a broader vision of the company: after two and a half years negotiating long-term contracts for Thales Avionics Canada, I wanted to be part of the manufacturing family, as supply chain manager: a natural move, where you are involved in the manufacturing process from suppliers to the end customer, Bombardier aircraft manufacturer. Keeping to just-in-time schedules, interfacing with sales, customer support, programmes, and Thales Units to meet the sales figures: all this is important work. I think appropriate training should be set up to share best practices.
The purchasing and supply chain management experiences are complementary and represent the required skills for achieving the objective of customer satisfaction.
