Figures from the National Institute for Energy Services indicate a reduced carbon footprint from electricity by 11% and from gas by 22%.
'Part of the reduction came from some surprisingly easy and inexpensive measures', said Group Environmental Health & Safety Manager, Russell Hobbs. 'A simple timer that costs just £12, for example, can reduce the £280 it costs to run a soft drinks vending machine by as much as 60%'.
Wider-reaching plans for 2008 are being considered by Thales's energy teams, and are predicted to improve Thales's carbon footprint still further, by lessening the impact of travelling, reducing hire car mileage and increasing the availability of more fuel-efficient vehicles.
