The new medium to long range Volume Search Radar is optimised for use in littoral waters and has been installed on the first of what will be two new Flexible Support Ships of the Royal Danish Navy.

Following the installation will be the Harbour Acceptance Test and the final integration with the combat management system will take place after the sea trials.

Developed in three and a half years and with already nine systems under contract, the SMART-S Mk2 radar is ideal for Fast Attack Craft and Larger Upward Vessels. The radar has coverage of 250 km and 70 degrees in elevation. Other capabilities of the radar include surface gunfire support, surface surveillance and helicopter guidance.
