Since March 2006, Millar Crawford has been based in France, after being appointed Vice-President Land Systems, responsible for all Land Systems’ activities within the Land & Joint Division, reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Thales Land & Joint Systems Division.
In 2002, Millar Crawford returned as Chief Executive Officer of Thales Air Defence Limited, based in Northern Ireland, and Managing Director of Thales Air Defence UK with operating sites in both Basingstoke and Wells, England.
In 1998, he had left the Company to take up the position of Managing Director of Boxmore Healthcare Packaging where he was responsible for the restructuring of the business and for establishing a new operating facility.
In 1997, he moved to Bombardier Shorts, taking up the position of Director of Procurement.
In 1994, he was appointed Director Operations and Programmes, responsible for the Programme Management, Production Management and Commercial activities for all the defence business within the Company, which at that time was named Shorts Missile Systems.
He undertook various engineering and subsequent commercial roles within Missile Systems Division of Short Brothers plc, becoming responsible for Procurement and Materials functions within the division in 1991.
Holding a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University, Belfast and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Ulster at Jordanstown, he joined the Missile Systems Division of Short Brothers plc as a Design Engineer in 1981.
