Hawkei wins 2016 Eureka Prize

The 2016 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes winners were announced at the Award Dinner held at Sydney Town Hall on Wednesday 31st August. A total of 16 prizes were given for outstanding contributions to Australian science.

Thales Australia won the Eureka Prize in the category: Defence Science and Technology Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Safeguarding Australia". The award was presented by Chief Defence Scientist and head of the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group Dr Alex Zelinsky.

In his laudation Dr Zelinsky said:  

A very well deserved recognition for the research and technology team who developed the armoured protected vehicle. They have demonstrated scientific excellence in delivering a capability that provides an important change to military transport technology. [...]  Your success tonight demonstrates Australia as a world leader in capability, designing highly sophisticated army vehicles that not only protect the Australian Defence Force but will also fit the international market.

CEO Chris Jenkins and Director Program Management PRV Gary Hines accepted the award on behalf of Thales.
