Queensland's Digital Licence App continues successful trials

The Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads new Digital Licence App is continuing successful trials in the Fraser Coast this week.   TMR has published some exciting videos and information about the Digital Licence App – https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/projects/digital-licence.

This initial trial will see up to 1000 citizens and a number of local businesses trialling the app.

Thales and Queensland SME partners Code Heroes and Aliva are proud to be part of the team delivering this project with TMR.  The award winning Digital ID Wallet Solution provides the core technology securing the digital credentials of the citizens of the Fraser Coast, giving them control over what personal information they share and who they share it with.

It's never been more important to ensure, as citizens, that our digital identity is protected and secure.  Thales worked closely with TMR and their customers to co-design the fully integrated app-based solution that is able to manage multiple digital credentials.  The comprehensive solution integrates a backend platform with managed services, building upon Gemalto’s next generation Digital ID Platform and Wallet technology, a globally proven and secure, smartphone-based home for all of the owner's digital identity credentials.

The all-in-one Digital Licence solution utilises a privacy enhanced app that acts as a secure digital vault to store a wide range of digitalized official documents, starting with the owner’s Driver’s Licence (including Open and Provisional licences), Photo Identification Card and Marine Licence. The innovative solution delivers ease of access via a smartphone, while ensuring the owner has complete control over their personal data and the freedom to decide exactly what information to share, with whom, and when.

Subject to successful completion of the trial and government approvals, the app has the potential to also provide Queenslanders with a secure gateway to access TMR’s online services, supporting the opportunity to expand to other State Government online services in the future.
