Thales lends crucial IT support to our charity partner Legacy Canberra

Thales Australia's Critical Support Services (CSS) team from our Digital Systems business delivers Information Communication Technology (ICT) Managed Services to internal and external customers. The CSS team ensures resilience to mission critical operational environments through trust, understanding, and expertise.

Recently, our CSS team played a crucial role in supporting the Canberra branch of Thales Australia's charity partner Legacy - an organisation supporting the families of veterans who gave their lives or health for our country.

Canberra Legacy’s hybrid-cloud environment supports 110 local and remote Legatees across the Canberra, Yass, and Boorowa communities. Like most other organisations, Canberra Legacy’s requirement for a stable and secure ICT environment became paramount to enable remote working during lockdown. Canberra Legacy primarily sourced their ICT equipment through donations but lacked the ongoing support required to maintain their systems. This is where Thales’ CSS services provided the necessary support and solutions.

Thales Australia has avidly supported Legacy since 2008, and in honour of this long-standing partnership our CSS team answered the call and volunteered to support Canberra Legacy’s ICT environment moving forward.

The team worked closely with Canberra Legacy to understand their ICT systems. Some of the issues Canberra Legacy faced included local to cloud account synchronisation failures, unplanned Virtual Private Network disconnections and failing hardware, which required the installation and integration of new equipment.

Here below is a message of appreciation sent to Thales by Mark Lax, Immediate Past President, Legacy Club of Canberra:

In this day and age, a not-for-profit cannot function without quality IT solutions. For a charity like Canberra Legacy, spending a significant amount of money on IT is not possible, as it takes away funds needed to provide for our Beneficiaries, the widows, children and disabled adults of deceased veterans. As such, the support that Thales Australia has provided to Canberra Legacy has ensured that we are able to keep our business operating smoothly, and still enable us to continue providing a high level of assistance to our Beneficiaries.

Stephen Simpson and all the Canberra Thales Critical Support Services team members have gone above and beyond in their support of Canberra Legacy, consistently answering calls and emails, working remotely or onsite, to solve any IT issue we have faced. Canberra Legacy, and in particularly the IT Committee, is incredibly grateful for these efforts as we do not have the resources to solve these issues alone.

The assistance provided from the Thales Critical Support Services team means that we are better able to consistently stay in contact with our Beneficiaries and Legatees, and we cannot thank them enough for their generous support."

Mark Lax, Immediate Past President Legacy Club of Canberra.

Thanks to the CSS team – for their skill, dedication and diligent support of the noble cause championed by Legacy Canberra.
