Thales in Austria sets industry benchmark for management systems

With the successful recertification according to the IRIS standard (International Railway Industry Standard), Thales in Austria was able to achieve the silver certificate as the first in Thales. Only 2% of the 2,168 participating companies worldwide achieved this result. With this the Thales location in Vienna sets a benchmark not only within Thales but also in the entire railway industry.

The IRIS certificate is an essential sign for our customers that they can trust on Thales as a partner. The achievement of the Silver Quality Performance Level once again confirms the very high quality of how we manage our projects.

The system of awarding bronze, silver and gold IRIS Quality Performance Level instead of awarding points was introduced around 2 years ago. As part of an integrated management system (IMS) audit, it was the first opportunity for Thales in Austria to qualify for the silver level this year. This means, it is not only relevant that the company has introduced processes and maintains them, but that these are actually lived and applied by the employees.

As part of this audit, the management system was checked for the requirements of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/TS22163(IRIS) standards. In addition to the auditors from Quality Austria, the IRIS Management Centre (IMC) of UNIFE (European Rail Industry) also confirmed after a detailed examination that our management system in practice meets the expectations of the silver level. The audit report confirms one thing above all: We have found a good way to apply this complex set of rules reasonably and efficiently and thus set a benchmark.

"This outstanding achievement for Thales in Austria is a great team success! We were only able to achieve such a positive result because our management system is implemented consistently, efficiently and successfully by each colleague. Representative I would like to thank Andreas Haslinger and his team, especially Maya Draganova, for the excellent and professional preparation. Let's keep this consistency - because after the audit is already before the audit."
