Thales signs two signalling contracts for Guangzhou metro

Thales, through its local joint venture Thales Saic Transportation, has been awarded the signalling contract for phase 1 of Guangzhou’s Lines 14 and 21.

 

Spanning across about 138 km (76,3 and 61,5 km respectively), this is the longest mileage ever signed for in a Chinese urban transportation bid!Both lines will be equipped with Thales’ SelTrac® CBTC, the most advanced rail signalling system in the world. The two lines are designed to run with a combination of express and normal routes (the latter stopping at every station), which will significantly reduce journey times. Lines 14 and 21 are expected to be operational by the end of 2017.Based on an unprecedented 100% transfer of technology and innovation, Thales Saic Transportation has mastered the world-leading signalling technology and is optimizing the system according to the operational needs of Chinese consumers.

2014 is an excellent year for the Chinese joint venture, which was awarded a total of 7 signalling contracts for metros in Hefei, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
