    The Radar Engineer will need to liaise with France for technical support,  therefore needs self-confidence, autonomy and ability to engage with team located in different locations to deliver his work.

    Job Objective

    The On field Service Engineer (OfSE) for Underwater Systems at Thales will manage and implement the on field delivery phase and the following maintenance phase.
    During the on field delivery phase She/He will supervise and support the installation and perform system tests campaign up to the final customer acceptance, including writing specifications, conducting testing, reporting and investigating defects.
    During the maintenance phases She/He will manage and implement the maintenance program and will act as first level of customer technical support for troubleshooting and defect investigation.
    In close coordination with the System Engineering Manager, the Project Manager and the other team members, She/He will be responsible for all the Service Engineering activities ensuring the predefined results on time, within the budget and with the expected level of Quality.

    Key Responsibilities

    She/He will:

    • Define the Service Engineering activities (on field delivery and maintenance) and contribute to the relevant Service Engineering Management Plan (SvEMP).
    • Formalize service requirements, if necessary in terms of safety, cost of ownership or logistic support of the Solution.
    • Specify, choose and deploy methodologies (including metrics), diagnostic tools and platforms necessary to Service Engineering and acceptance activities.
    • Decline service requirements to the various actors of the organization including the responsible of the concerned elementary services.
    • Ensure the implementation of the Service Engineering activities.
    • Analyze interfaces between subsystems, assuring the right definition and implementation.
    • Ensure all the testing activities for the project, including: preparing test plans strategy documents, recording test results and investigating and verifying defects identified.
    • Work closely with the Customers to gain solution final acceptance.
    • Ensure the implementation of the Maintenance program.
    • During the maintenance phases, She/He will act as the first level of customer technical support for troubleshooting and defect investigation.

    Skills, Experience and Qualifications

    • Engineer with a professional experience (min. 5 years) in performing on field integration and service activities on large systems integration projects in the application domain (sonars for surface vessels, mine countermeasures systems, acoustic homing heads, underwater security and protection, etc.).
    • Able to manage Navy customers and Suppliers relationships.
    • Deep knowledge of System Engineering discipline and processes and CMMI principles.
    • Fluency in Italian and English language is mandatory.
    • Knowledge of French language is well appreciated.

    Specific Technical Skills required

    • Knowledge of the main technologies and subsystems used to implement Underwater Integration. Projects (Sonars, Radars, Communication Systems, Command and Control).
    • Strong Background in Electronic, Acoustic and Electrical installations.
    • Background in Telecommunications and Data networks.
    • Knowledge of applicable Military Standards.

    We are currently looking for a Systems Sustainment Engineer / Fleet Engineer to join the Thales Avionics, a subsidiary of Thales USA team in Melbourne, FL. 

    The Systems Sustainment Engineer / Fleet Engineer will manage the Thales IFEC technical Fleet by analyzing system performance data and providing appropriate maintenance recommendations. The Engineer develops and maintains the System Initialization Procedure (SIP) the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and performs troubleshooting and implements corrective actions

    Key Responsibilities: 

    Monitor the health of the Fleet by analyzing data collected during flight; draw conclusions from the data about system performance and provide recommendations for maintenance based on the analysis. Perform aircraft system level troubleshooting and manage the implementation of corrective actions

    Develop and maintains the aircraft System Initialization Procedure (SIP), the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and maintain the hardware within the respective Fleet System Integration Lab (SIL) to ensure troubleshooting and testing is performed within a representative environment

    • Understand the impact of software revision changes from a system perspective, engage in the evaluation and testing of new software revisions and develop the procedures necessary to deploy software revisions to the aircraft Systems Sustaining Engineer

    Conceptualize and facilitate the development of new and improved tools for system testing

    Collaborate with the respective program manager to communicate all technical issues to customer

    Other duties as assigned by management 

    Required Skills and Experience:

    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical field

    Minimum five (5) years’ experience in electrical hardware design, preferably in the avionics or communication industry

    Experience in system integration and testing

    Previous experience in planning and implementing projects

    Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally

    Valid, unrestricted Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States or ability to obtain one

    Must speak, read and write English fluently
