As a leading cyber and technological consultancy service, Thales Cyber and Consulting are proud to declare that we have committed to a new set of voluntary standards launched by the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) – the Consulting Excellence Scheme.

The Thales Cyber and Consulting Services business was launched to help customers through the digital transformation process whilst mitigating their cyber risk in a highly complex environment.

It is important to us that our customers have full faith in our services and advice, which is why we are pleased to commit to this new gold standard in ethics and professionalism for the consulting industry.

The Consulting Excellence scheme launched by the MCA promotes the highest standards within the consulting industry and facilitates the sharing of good practice. The published declarations set out the detailed policies and processes of each consulting organisation.

Pete Hoddinott, Operations and Resources Director for Thales Cyber and Consulting stated “As a signatory to the MCA Consulting Excellence Framework, Thales Cyber and Consulting is fully committed to the nine principles and three pillars of Ethical Behaviour; Client Service and Value; and Professional Development, which are entirely aligned with the launch of our exciting Consultancy Development Programme being rolled out across our Business.”

Nine principles of the MCA Consulting Excellence Scheme

The MCA Consulting Excellence Scheme is built upon three pillars: Ethical Behaviour, Client Service and Value, and Professional Development. These pillars rest on a strong foundation of nine guiding principles:

Ethical behaviour
  • We are responsible and good citizens
  • We conduct our business ethically
  • We foster an ethical culture
Client service and value
  • We provide excellent consulting services which deliver the outcomes clients seek and need
  • We are transparent with clients and respond to their concerns
  • We always strive to improve the value we can deliver to our clients
Professional Development
  • We undertake training and professional development planning each year
  • We promote strong core consulting capabilities and specialisms in our consultants and teams
  • We support our employees’ career progression, professional development and welfare
Alan Leaman, CEO of the MCA, said:

“All our members are signing up to the nine Principles of Consulting Excellence. They will show how they live up to these Principles.

“Research with clients confirms their welcome for these commitments and the hallmark of quality they will represent, consulting excellence, will help clients to make informed and better buying decisions, and both consultancies and clients to achieve the complex outcomes the modern economy requires.”

Thales Cyber and Consulting Services has always worked hard to live up to our own high principles, which closely align to those set by the MCA; we see this scheme as part of our ongoing work to offer a high quality service  to our customers.

In making this declaration, we recognise that this scheme will help clients to make better informed buying decisions so that both consultancies and clients can work together with confidence to achieve their desired goals.

How Thales Cyber and Consulting puts its principles into practice

Our declaration of support for the Consulting Excellence Scheme reflects our ongoing dedication to the highest professional standards; here are some examples of how Thales already lives up to the MCA’s principles:
  • The firm’s commitment to ethical behaviour, including links to its ethical policy and any procedures for monitoring the effect of these policies
  • The firm’s commitment to client service and value, including outline policies, procedures, and materials used to raise client engagement with the scheme (from marketing and bid boilerplate and branding to bespoke innovations)
  • The firm’s commitment to career development, including evidence of Consulting Excellence staff awareness campaigns, and training, welfare and career progression and through the Consulting Development Programme launched in October 2016 to focus on the development of our consulting behaviours.
  • The firm’s commitment to the consultancy behaviour development through the delivery of the Consultancy Development Programme (CDP) which will be delivered to 35% of our consultants in 2017.

Our Consultancy Development Programme (CDP)

We have developed a Consultancy Development Programme specifically focused to further develop the behaviours of our highly qualified and experienced consultants. The programme specifically looks at the Leadership and Consultancy competencies through an assessment against a framework, which is aligned to the core Leadership and Thales values and the Consulting Excellence principles we expect of our consultants.

Through an intensive development programme, with specific training provided on the Franklin Cover 7 habits, Task Orientated negotiation, proposal writing and role modelling with periodic progress reviews and 360 assessments to track the individual consultant’s development.

This significant investment to support personal development and business transformation is critical to underpin the wider business transformation to achieve our business objectives, which is individually led and behaviourally focused and directly aligned to the MCA Consulting Excellence Charter and ways of working.
