November 14, 2007 - Thales Alenia Space will supply HISPASAT with AmerHis-2, a Multimedia Regenerative Communication Repeater for Amazonas-2 satellite
Thales Alenia Space has signed a contract with Hispasat, a Spanish telecommunication satellite service provider, to design, manufacture, integrate and test an Interactive Multimedia Communication AMERHIS-2 Repeater to be embarked onboard the Amazonas-2 communication satellite.
The AmerHis-2 Multimedia On Board Processor (OBP) will extend Hispasat's current satellite communication capacity, providing high-performance interactive multimedia services to North America, South America and Europe.
Additionally, this second AmerHis system will allow the operator to use it as a back up or redundant solution in case of necessity, which will contribute to increase the viability and confidence of the current and future users.
As prime contractor, Thales Alenia Space España - the Spanish subsidiary of Thales Alenia Space - will be in charge not only of the onboard processor but also of its associated ground control, comprising a Network Control Centre (NCC) to manage the overall system. The AmerHis-2 is scheduled to start commercial services in late 2009 on board the Amazonas-2 satellite built by EADS Astrium.

November 12, 2007 - Passive Microwaves for the Arabsat 5th Generation satellites
Arabsat, the Arab communications satellite operator based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, selected a consortium of European companies to build their 5th generation satellites: Arabsat 5A and BADR-5 (technically Arabsat 5B).
These 5th Generation satellites will make it possible for Arabsat to execute on their
aggressive deployment strategy over the Middle East and North Africa region markets, and beyond, for the forthcoming 20 years.
Thales Alenia Space España under the terms of the contract signed with Thales Alenia Space prime contractor of the communications payloads, will provide many of the passive microwave equipment to both Arabsat 5A and 5B satellites communication payloads.
The contracts comprises of the design, development, manufacture, integration, test campaign and supply of 46 equipment, of which 18 units are Ku band IMUX (108 channels), 16 Ku band Input Filters, 8 Ku band Diplexers and 4 C band Input Filters.
November 7, 2007 - MELCO awards Thales Alenia Space España the S-band TTC Transponders for the First QUASI-ZENITH Satellite Navigation System.
Mitsubishi Electronic Corporation has formally announced to Thales Alenia Space España yesterday, the awards of the supply of a couple of S-band TTC Transponders for the first Quasi-Zenith navigation satellite for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
Quasi-Zenith Satellite Navigation System (QZSS) is a constellation consisted of several satellites in elliptical and inclined orbits in different orbital planes. QZSS is designed that at least one Quasi-Zenith Navigation Satellite (QZS) out of several satellites always exists near the zenith over Japan.
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has been researched and developed navigation system of QZSS with other national research institutes. At March 31, 2006, government of Japan decided to promote the QZSS program as single mission at least 1'st' satellite, i. e, navigation mission only. At the same time, GOJ also decided that JAXA is to develop the 1'st' satellite bus system and ground tracking and control stations.
