Thales’ commitment to LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion
At Thales, respect and inclusion are vital for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace. We want to ensure all employees feel comfortable bringing their full self to work. To publicly signal this commitment, we submitted a nomination for the Australian Workplace Equality Agency (AWEI), a national benchmark on LGBTQ+ inclusion, and have been recognised as a ‘Participating Employer.’
This acknowledgment by AWEI is the first step in this process, and we are now working towards the Bronze level recognition by furthering our activity towards LGBTQ+ inclusion.
What does this mean for the LGBTQ+ community, and allies, at Thales?
Thales has consistently aimed to create a working environment that promotes respect and inclusivity for all employees. This AWEI recognition reflects the important work we have done in the LGBTQ+ space including providing online digital LGBTQ+ training to staff, creating educational videos and hosting online keynote events around inclusion and recognition. For the LGBTQ+ community of Thales, this means having support networks available which work collaboratively to develop and maintain inclusion, safety and prosperity.
We are working towards becoming a company of choice for LGBTQ+ employees through creating a safe workplace where everyone can bring their whole self to work. This AWEI recognition reflects the important work we have done in LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion and its impact on our people.

What is AWEI?
The AWEI stands as the definitive national benchmark on LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion. The AWEI sets out a range of expectations surrounding an employer’s role in supporting and facilitating LGBTQ+ staff members and is extremely comprehensive and evidence based. Employers are asked a series of very specific questions in relation to areas that directly impact inclusion, or the perception thereof, and are required to provide evidence for all responses. Evidence may entail a detailed description of a process or an attached copy of supporting documentation to validate responses. All employers are measured by the same criteria but must provide sufficient evidence, as requested.
