Overview
Thales is responsible for the implementation and delivering technologies of Mexico City’s Ciudad Segura Project, the world’s most ambitious urban security project. Mexico City’s Ciudad Segura Project is a unique urban video surveillance project to improve security across the metropolis and protect citizens from crime, terrorism, attacks on strategic sites, natural disasters and other threats. In 2009, Thales was awarded the first phase of the Project, delivering 8.000 cameras.
In 2014, Thales was awarded the second phase, delivering more 7.000 cameras, as well as panic buttons, loudspeakers and law enforcement systems, will strengthen the system capability. The Mexico City’s Ciudad Segura Project allowed a reduction of 56% of high impact crimes. The car robberies were also reduced in 50%, according to official reports (June 2016).
In Brazil, Thales is the leader in the e-security market in the field of cryptography for financial transactions. Thales also participates in various programs to protect critical infrastructures across the region
