    We are currently looking for a Principal Systems Project Engineer to join the Thales IFEC team in Irvine, California.
     
    Thales is currently looking for a talented individual to join our Project Engineering team to be responsible for the following areas of 2-3 customer projects: systems design, systems IVV, system troubleshooting and some local support of In-service issues. The systems design area includes systems-level requirements definition, and the generation of respective documentation. The system development, IVV and support consist of the budgeting, scheduling and coordination of the teams responsible for the particular activities, definition and tracking of the deliverables, passing the engineering process key milestone review meeting, communication with program management team, field team and customer. Another essential function of this position is the role played in supporting Airplane Installation. Position requires thorough and extensive knowledge of systems engineering principles, which includes computer science disciplines as well as knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and trade practices in the systems field.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Define scope ensuring product compliance with customer requirements.
    • Generates documentation for each respective phase. The definition phase includes the following documentation: Customer Requirements Specification and Interface Control Documentation.
    • Plan, coordinate and organize phases of the customer project to completion; utilize schedules to organize and understand project tasks and manages the tasks throughout the system design and verification phases.
    • Manages engineering budget and forecast.
    • Provide budgetary status of program against plan and future work load.
    • Commit on schedule and budget constraints for the customer project the holder of the job is responsible for.
    • Identify and resolve potential problems before they occur therefore minimizing the impact to schedule and cost.
    • Establish accountability and measurements, continually review progress, efficient reporting.              Technical focal from engineering communicating with program management team, field team and customer.
    • Close out the project and conduct lessons learned
    • Strong Microsoft skills, specifically Word, Excel and MS Project. Visio a plus.

    Key Responsibilities:
     
    Executing interaction design and visual design as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
    Develop the full stack of UX deliverables, from User research (personas) and storyboards, to information architecture and interaction design, to UI design & wireframes, as well as visual standards
    Analyze data and devise strong companion visualizations.
    Develop alternative approaches to meeting product requirements, using judgment to suggest optimal solutions to design problems that balance customer need, business constraints, and technological realities.
    Responsible for defining the user interface of key customer experiences and projects, concentrating on end-to-end scenarios and key user tasks.
    Collaborating on user experience planning with UX product line and architects and Design smart solutions to complex system workflows.

    Researching interaction design trends, Identify the design patterns and work with the development teams in creating a framework to build these patterns
    You will be required to work on user interface design, usability, accessibility, information architecture and Human Machine Interaction.


    Required Skills and Experience:

    BS/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related experience. 8-12+ years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree. 6+ years’ of experience with a Master’s degree.
    Experience designing for a variety of touch input technologies including multi-screen interface environments.

    The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for driving data-driven decision making throughout the business. Your scope of responsibility spans across descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. You understand business and are an expert at identifying opportunities, leveraging advanced analytics. You help define requirements and solutions to resolve business-related problems, and meet strategic organizational goals. You will work on streamlining processes and at times build and maintain tools beyond analytics solutions. You play a role in influencing and ensuring data integrity is maintained by process owners and work closely with technology teams during extraction process. You serve a key-role in selection, implementation and support of new and existing applications and tools. As Business Intelligence Analyst, you will coordinate tasks, identify optimization and synergies to be performed within Operations organization, and guarantee coherence of business related processes.     Key Responsibilities:

    1.    1 The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for supplying key metrics to ‘Aerospace Services World-Wide’ (ASW’s) internal and external customers.

    2.    Lead and conduct interviews of management and their departments on specific business requirements and processes, for the purposes of developing clear and concise functional specifications.

    3.    Design and automate tools that allow end users to be more productive in their jobs.

    4.    Demonstrate ability to analyze data and produce reports within Excel, Web, and similar platforms. Ability to write and debug excel macros.

    5.    Support Web and client-server environments including JavaScript, HTML, VBA, and XML. Develop SQL databases necessary to support current systems. At times, be willing to develop JS, HTML and XML as per business needs.

    6.    Maintain and provide a suite of tools and capabilities that provide most efficient and effective Business analytics (such as BW, Tableau, Qlikview, Advanced analytics, etc.); providing customized solutions as necessary.

    7.    Experience with Qlikview is required. Work with IT & IS teams to identify data fields and define ETL strategy - how data will be extracted, transformed, and loaded from SAP and other databases to data repositories/data marts.

    8.    Have sound understanding of ECC6 SAP enabled business processes for each business unit and business process.  At times, participate in SAP system design, testing and implementation.

    9.    Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Visio, Project and PowerPoint

    10. Excellent communications skills. Adept at building strong working relationships with coworkers and management.

    11. Train, coach and support Operations employees who use Thales deployed applications such as Enterprise Content Management (ECM) - LiveLink, and CRM (Customer Resource Management).

    12. Talented problem solver, able to think “outside the box.”

     

     

    Required Skills and Experience:

    BS in Business, Management, or Engineering. Minimum of 3-7 years’ experience with business operations or systems development, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Aviation, Electronics and/or sales background is helpful.  2 years working experience with SAP database required. 1 year experience working with QlikView is required. 1 year experience on JavaScript, HTML, XML, VBA, and SQL databases are a plus. Knowledge of aviation industry and terminology a plus.

    We are currently looking for a Senior System Engineer - ISE (In-Service Engineering) to join the Thales IFE team in Irvine, CA. 

    The mission of the Senior System Engineer - ISE is to provide solutions for In-Service Technical Issues. They contribute to Customer Satisfaction by leading the system availability and proposing appropriate solutions to meet the expected System Performance for a portfolio of customers. 

    The Senior System Engineer - ISE should:  
    - Be the Technical Focal for in-service issues and requests
    - Define and Prioritize In-Service issues
    - Ensure follow up and resolution of  technical in-service issues
    - Lead and Coordinate investigations/actions plans to resolution.
    - Monitor and analyze the IFE fleet performance for allocated customer programs.
    - Be the Engineering Communication link with AOC & FSEs for In Service issues and Thales internally for sustaining programs
    - Provide visibility on accomplishments and progress reports on major in service issues to internal entities

    Key Responsibilities: 

    In-service issues:
    Be the Technical Focal for in-service issues and requests
    Define and Prioritize In-Service issues by:
    o Holding regular In-Service performance meetings (frequency defined by Customer tier) with support teams (including Field, AOC, Support Engineering, Project Engineering and Program Management).
    o Maintaining a list of all in-service issues and actions with detailed description and status using JIRA and confluence
    o Creating Parettos of in service issues occurrence and impact in order to provide data and priority to task team

    System Performances:
    Monitor and analyze the IFE fleet performance for allocated customer programs by:
    o Reviewing and analyzing available data like BITE reports, Field reports, AOC Alerts, Reliability numbers, System Availability. 
    o Maintaining Performance metrics (per Customer tier).

    Investigations:
    Lead and Coordinate investigations/actions plans to resolution by:
    o Running investigation (in A/C with Field Engineers (RDK), in the Lab,…)
    o Participating to Generic Engineering and Production product reviews (task team, Product Quality and Reliability review)
    o Allocating priorities from a technical perspective
    o Reviewing proposed design changes and challenging proposed solutions
    o Ensure compliance to program office objectives and budget. 

    Communication:
    Be the Engineering Communication link with AOC & FSEs for In Service issues and with Program office for Sustaining Programs
    Provide visibility on accomplishments and progress on major in service issues by:
    o Communicating regularly with field and program team
    o Participating to Customer Satisfaction Meeting
    o Publishing reports on highest critically issues.

    Misc:
    Maintain a strong technical knowledge of the Fleet, Systems and Equipment and be capable of using and testing the Systems
    Exercise a high degree of initiative and independent judgment in coordinating the work of peer personnel within or external to the company
    May travel.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    Technical Abilities:
    Linux and Shell scripting are required
    C or C++ and Java are required
    MySQL, PHP are a plus
    Networking technologies are a plus: IP/MAC, Ethernet switching, VLANs
    Jira and Confluence are required

    Education:
    A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required.
    Master in Computer Science or equivalent is preferred

    Experience:
    IFE or Connectivity experience is desired
    Integration and system/software testing experience desired
    Project Management experience desired
    Aircraft / Airline experience is a plus

    Soft Skills:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Problem Solving engineer, self-driven with high sense of Priority and Time Management
    Capacity to organize tasks in order to solve complex problems/issues
    Strong Influence and Persuasion skills
    Must be able to work in a constant changing environment / priorities
    Must be able to work in transversal complex organizations composed of highly different profile/skillsets
