Thales objectives are to develop cooperative projects and a closer collaboration between Institutions and the industry through different kinds of partnerships. In 2013 Thales reinforced its shareholding position in EDISOFT from its original 30% stake to a controlling 65% stake. EDISOFT is a software and systems engineering company that develops and integrates critical systems for the Aerospace and Defence markets.
In 2015, Thales moved forward with new partnerships for further local collaboration.
Thales launched an Innovation Hub and signed a cooperation agreement with Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), the largest Engineering, Science, Technology and Architecture school in Portugal.
Thales signed with ANA/VINCI and Infraestruturas de Portugal a collaboration agreement in the field of innovation and development for areas monitoring and flows management.
More recently, the Innovation Hub is developing the Smart City Sense Project, jointly with Instituto Superior Técnico, Faculdade de Motricidade Humana and Lisbon Municipal Police.
