Present in Portugal since 1990, Thales emerged in the domestic market as the leader for integrated transport solutions, equipping more than 1,200 kilometres of the national railway network. Today, Thales is recognized as key technology partner, leader in the transport segment developing products and solutions for Passenger Information and Security systems, in Portugal and from Portugal towards the export markets.
Thales provides its customers with technologically advanced solutions for the Aerospace, Transportation, Defence and Security domains. Working with its customers worldwide, Thales partners for projects that transform cities and countries contributing to the quality of life of all citizens.

Thales objectives are to develop cooperative projects and a closer collaboration between Institutions and the industry through different kinds of partnerships. In 2013 Thales reinforced its shareholding position in EDISOFT from its original 30% stake to a controlling 65% stake. EDISOFT is a software and systems engineering company that develops and integrates critical systems for the Aerospace and Defence markets.
In 2015, Thales moved forward with new partnerships for further local collaboration.

• Thales launched an Innovation Hub and signed a cooperation agreement with Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), the largest Engineering, Science, Technology and Architecture school in Portugal.
• Thales signed with ANA/VINCI and Infraestruturas de Portugal a collaboration agreement in the field of innovation and development for areas monitoring and flows management.
