… 900,000 Sylt tourists per year could not safely pass the Hindenburgdamm from Niebüll to Keitum by train.
Since the 1st June 1927, the Hindenburgdamm has been connecting Sylt, the largest North Frisian Island, with the mainland. Since 1932, the railway on the approximately 11 kilometre long route between Niebüll and Keitum has been transporting goods, people and even vehicles. For more than 25 years, Thales Deutschland has been the partner of Deutsche Bahn (DB) on the route Husum–Keitum and has been installing both the control and safety systems, as well as the electronic interlocking systems (ESTW).
