… about 1.5 million Berlin inhabitants per day would not be able to travel smoothly by underground.
For the backbone of Berlin, Thales Deutschland has extensively modernised the underground line 6 in recent years, one of the most important north-south connection. At the Mehringdamm station an electronic interlocking system (ESTW) has been set up. At 14 stations, more than 150 main and distant signals, as well as 150 emergency signals have been installed, more than 100 kilometres of cable with routing have been run and over 200 state-of-the-art axle counters as well as 40 speed monitoring systems have been commissioned.
