Thales has been involved in Latvian projects since 2004, and is based in Riga with a dedicated team of 15 employees working on various projects and providing engineering capabilities locally.

Thales’ strategy is to boost its local presence by establishing long-term local partnerships. In Latvia, Thales already has a significant number of collaborations with local subcontractors and partners and will further grow its local expertise with future projects. The markets addressed in Latvia lie especially within defense and transportation. A recent example of this within defence is the modernization of the sighting and observation system on the CVR-T platform that supports the Latvian Warfighter. Transportation is an important key market in Latvia where Thales delivers excellent quality to Latvian Railways in order to ensure smooth rail operation.
The Nordic and Baltic cooperation with the Group also brings high levels of modernisation, increasing capabilities for both parties.

Thales’ main installed base with the Latvian Armed Forces is the current sonar suite on the five minehunter vessels of the Latvian Navy.
In Latvia, Thales holds a strong position within the Transportation area and within existing maintenance and services agreements for the signaling equipment where Thales delivers excellent quality to Latvian Railways to ensure smooth rail operation.
