Contract signed for second offshore patrol vessel of the Royal Thai Navy

Order intake: In June 2016 Thales announced two significant contracts for the supply of a full spectrum of Above-water and Underwater solutions for the Royal Thai Navy (RTN).

„The contract signing is an important achievement in terms of utilization in Kiel and the orders in the Business Line Radio Communication Products (RCP)“, underlines Thomas Roettges, Interim Director Business Sector Naval Optronic Systems.

Thales will modernise the Bang Rachan Class Minehunters and supply the mission system for  the newly ordered Krabi Class Offshore Patrol Vessel (2nd of class). Thales Electronic Systems in Kiel, Germany, will supply the fully integrated communication system for the Krabi Class Offshore Patrol Vessel. The system is based on focon IP ,Thales’ integrated naval communication network and Thales VHF and V/UHF radios, as well as military Message Handling System, PABX, SPT, GMDSS and THWINCOM Thales' wireless communication network. The vessels are being built in Thailand at a local navy shipyard and Thales provides its services such as Setting to Work and acceptances at place as well as operator and onboard maintainer training at its facilities in Kiel, Germany.

By working with the marine industry partners Thales is capable to provide RTN with local training and service at the highest level available and support Thailand in its objective of strengthening its high-end and local industrial capabilities.
