From 2018 - 2020, Thales Australia spent $1.9bn dollars on Australian suppliers across all markets we operate in. We pride ourselves on the collaborative nature of our work and we don’t simply procure from SMEs, we provide best in class development support to help them grow, improve and be more competitive.

Australian Defence Industry Spending Increasing Despite COVID-19
Following on from the first major study of its type conducted by AlphaBeta Advisers in partnership with Thales Australia in 2020, economic analysts Accenture were given unprecedented access to data on hundreds of thousands of payments by Thales Australia to its Australian suppliers over a three-year period. This study highlights the integral role that Australian businesses play in Thales Australia’s supply chain and how these investments benefits the customer as well as the local businesses and their economies.
The data clearly showed Australian supply chain spending by Thales Australia increased in 2020 despite the economic disruption caused by Covid-19, supporting an increasing trend in Australian supply chain supply jobs and economic activity benefit from spending more of the Defence dollar in Australia. It delivers thousands of jobs spread through hundreds of business across the nation.
This analysis provides strong evidence in support of the Government’s policy of requiring high levels of Australian Industry Capability in its acquisition and sustainment programs. There is a strong correlation between Sovereign Industry Capability and the greatest benefit flowing to Australian suppliers.

Thales Australia will provide In Service Support of the Deployable Mine Counter Measure Mission System that includes Maintenance, Engineering, Supply and Training Support to the Royal Australian Navy.
