Integrated Air Defence Systems
Control of the airspace is a vital prerequisite for controlling the military situation.
Forces must have ground/air and air/air capabilities acting in total coordination in order to counter a wide range of threats (drones, aviation, missiles), from the lowest to the highest layer of the airspace.
Thales is an essential supplier of systems that integrate all the components of air defence, from permanent peacetime missions to air operations in times of crisis and conflict.
Whatever the type of current and future threat (from micro-drones to ballistic and hyper-velocity missiles), Thales offers solutions adapted to the operational needs of each user in order to support all detection, decision-making and neutralisation capabilities.

- At Paris Air Show our Counter-UAS (micro and mini) solution is also showcased!
The changing nature of warfare requires detecting and sensing threats earlier, at greater distances and with more accuracy.
Thales develops, delivers and supports innovative airborne and ground-based solutions to find, fix, track and target all types of threats, from small UAVs to stealth fighter jets and hypersonic missiles.
Our solutions cover the broad range of the electromagnetic spectrum from Electro-Optic/InfraRed (EO/IR) to Radio Frequency (RF), in a seamless continuum from surface to space. Fitted with active, discrete or passive capacities, our solutions for detection provide robust capabilities for contested and degraded environments.
Using AI at both sensor and data fusion system level, and operating collaboratively our solutions offer real-time enhanced situational awareness, supporting the decision-making process and leading to an acceleration of the OODA loop.
In other words, our solutions allow our customers to master the EO/IR and RF spectrums, thus ensuring their freedom of action, even in contested environments.

Protecting the Air Space from the large spectrum of ever more sophisticated aerial threats requires a drastic acceleration of the analysis and decision tempo to make the right decisions at the right moment.
Thales Command & control aim at processing a massive volume of information provided by all available sensors and information sources. It provides the most accurate multi-domain analysis including a precise and reliable Recognised Air Picture. Thales C2 assists Commanders’ and Operators decisions in optimizing quickly the planning and execution of missions. In particular, neutralizing all types of threats with the most adequate effectors.
Thales C2 seamlessly integrates sensors and effectors (from Thales and/or third parties) and assures end-to-end performance of integrated air and missile defence systems.

In the context of an evolution towards higher intensity conflict, with stealthier or faster threats or, paradoxically, more hybrid ones, such as drones with low signature and speed, it is mandatory to consolidate anti access strategy (A2 / AD: Anti-Access / Area Denial). It is important to protect the airspaces better with a multi-layered anti-aircraft defense integrated into the global air combat system.
The wide range of solutions offered (directed energy weapons, jammers, rockets, guns, missiles), ensures the most efficient and appropriate response to each type of threat.
The different guidance technologies (laser, electromagnetic) make Thales effectors discreet, resistant to countermeasures and effective in all weathers.
The extreme precision of guided weapons also makes it possible to avoid collateral damage and to limit the number of ammunition used for each threat (PK - probability of kill – high, first shoot, first kill). This makes it possible to last in combat, and optimize inventory.
