An accurate, up-to-date Recognised Air Picture (RAP) is critical not only for Airspace Protection, but also for the protection of land forces deployed close to the Forward Line of Own Troops (FLOT) in theatres of operations.
This is particularly crucial in an operating environment where, in addition to Rocket Artillery and Mortar (RAM) on land, new air threats such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) have emerged. The increasing presence of UAVs on theatres of operation is requiring a paradigm shift in tactics and strategy for land forces, who are likelier than ever before to face saturating attacks.
In such context land forces need to remain highly mobile.
Short-range radars are key assets in protecting land forces against threats such as stealth aircraft, UAVs and RAM.
To be fully efficient and effective in their mission, they need to be able to detect and track threats as well as locate weapons as fast as possible to provide land forces with sufficient decision-making and reaction time - whether for counter-RAM or to seek refuge.
They also need to fully function and remain accurate while on the move. This provides land forces with the flexibility they need to switch positions as quickly as possible, as well as ensure the survivability of such critical sensor.
Protect your Land Forces
Ensuring the survivability and resilience of critical RAP assets is at the heart of Thales’ mission to protect the people who protect us. It requires finding the best compromise between an easily deployable asset that retains all its capabilities when on-the-move while also continuing to provide the most accurate, up-to-date detection and tracking of a wide variety of potentially saturating air threats.
Thales has made it its mission to provide its customers with this compromise to ensure the highest standards of protection and asset survivability.
TheGround Master 60(GM60) - Frontline detections is the ultra-tactical Short and Very Short-Range Air Defence (SHORAD/V-SHORAD) radar of the Ground Master family. It is a versatile 3D radar designed to provide land forces Search On The Move (SOTM) stand-alone detection capabilities, while also retaining the key feature of being deployable in less than 2mn. Featuring an 80km detection range (150 km as an option), it is easily integrated into a C2 or a weapon system, and ideal for land force protection and airspace coordination.
