Thales Nederland goes for level 5 on the CO2 Performance Ladder!

We want to reduce the emission of CO2 and the consumption of scarce resources through the production and delivery of our products. We have been working on this as a company for several years now. This year we decided to take it to another level. We want to achieve level 5 on the CO2 performance ladder this year.

The CO2 footprint 2017

To realize this, the CO2 footprint is calculated every six months. This insight into CO2 emissions makes it possible to draw up effective objectives. In 2017, a total of 5,813 tons of CO2 was emitted. Of which 2,053.83 tonnes in scope 1 and 3,759.0 tonnes in scope 2. The graph shows the CO2 footprint of 2017.

Our CO2 reduction target

In order to reduce emissions, we want to emit 83.5% less CO2 in 2020 compared to 2014 (scope 1 and 2). This objective is related to the number of employees.

Ready for action!

To achieve this goal, we take the following measures:

  •     Buy 100% green electricity
  •     Reduce gas consumption by connecting various buildings to Bronnet
  •     Reduce energy consumption by building optimizations and building management
  •     Promoting public transport for business trips (train to Paris instead of flying)
  •     Opportunities Carpool App
  •     Prevent unnecessary kilometers by working from home and / or teleconferencing
  •     Reducing energy through large-scale installation of solar panels
  •     Gradually replace lighting for LED
Make a difference

Looking at the reference year 2014, Thales Nederland has already reduced 67% of its CO2 emissions. This is largely due to the use of green electricity in Huizen, Eindhoven and part of Hengelo. With the use of 100% green electricity this year, we expect to make a big difference. The graph below shows that gas consumption has also decreased drastically as well as CO2 emissions as a result of the number of kilometers driven.

Also reduction in the chain

We also want to have a positive impact on the chain in which we work. That is why in the coming years we will be working on greening and reducing the commuter traffic and the energy consumption of products supplied by Thales. More information will follow later on.

Our employees help

Every Thales employee helps to reduce our CO2 emissions even further. This is how we work together to achieve our CO2 reduction target.
