Thales Portugal has run a 52 hours operation successfully in the Kuala Lumpur Monorail

Thales Portugal held a successeful Trial Operation for the monorail in Kuala Lumpur during 52 hours nonstop. The work began at midnight on 12th April, Saturday, and ended at 4pm, 14th April.

The test was composed by five phases:

Phase 1- signalling system’s migration of Ansaldo for Thales signalling system by replacing the AMV engines of the main line and depot, using 12 monorails with 2 cars, line signalling and depot.

Phase 2 - Operating in normal mode for 14hours with demonstration of regulation for 10 trains.

Phase 3 - Operating on degraded mode for the MainLine during 12hours. Real scenarios of system degradation have been demonstrated, for example, the need to tow a vehicle and fault simulation of various components of the signalling sub-system.

Phase 4 - Operation in normal and degraded mode during 9hours at the depot.

Phase 5 - Reinstatement of initial operating by reversing Thales’s signaling system to the Ansaldo´s signaling system.

Were involved more than 200 resources, of all the project partners.
