The excellent performance of the RDY-2 is basically achieved by making optimum use of three, automatically managed, waveforms:

  • High pulse repetition frequency: velocity search and long range look-down detection
  • Medium pulse repetition frequency: all-aspect look-up/look-down detection
  • Low pulse repetition frequency: look-up long-range detection, air-to-ground and air-to-surface modes

Automatic management of waveforms is optimized according to the detection conditions.

Thales is Europe’s leading producer of airborne radars and radar electronic warfare equipment for the three armed forces.

Thales has equipped all French-made combat aircraft. Three thousand radars and as many electronic countermeasures systems have been delivered to the air forces, navies and land forces of forty nations.

The RDY-2 radar is the latest generation of Airborne Systems fire control radars for the Mirage 2000, under production for the French Air Force and several foreign customers.
The RDY-2 will provide the all weather multirole capability required in operation for many years to come.

For air-to-air missions, its detection ranges and multi-target capabilities enable firing most modern missiles in their full range envelopes.

To enhance mission efficiency and aircraft survivability, the RDY-2 features specific ECCM devices to maintain operational capabilities even in the most dense electromagnetic environments.

Automatic features that lighten pilot workload, outstanding detection performance, unprecedented target tracking qualities, high definition imaging and growth potential are the RDY-2’s main features.

Multirole capability
The RDY-2 is designed to meet all the pilot’s requirements in all types of missions: Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground and Air-to-Sea.

The RDY-2 is designed to reduce maintenance in terms of manpower, turnover and cost.
During flight or operation on the ground, built-in test equipment (BITE) performs automatic or cued checks and indicates results on the cockpit display.
The modular design of the radar makes it possible to change the faulty LRU quickly at
organizational level.
At intermediate level, two automatic test benches select the faulty devices in the LRUs.
