Overview
Thales’ revenue collection system is used on the Singapore MRT’s Downtown Line. Thales has also upgraded the SCADA system on the North-East Line.
In 2012, Thales was awarded two major re-signalling upgrade contracts for the North-South and East-West Lines and for the Tuas West Extension. The resignalling project was completed in 2018 , with the two lines running on Thales’ world-leading SelTrac® Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) solution, and making them the most reliable lines in the system.
In January 2015, Thales won its first contract for the design and manufacturing for signalling, communications and an Operational Control Centre (OCC) for Taiwan’s Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in the city of Danhai. Similar projects were won in 2017 for the Taiwanese cities of Kaohsiung and Ankeng. Through these projects, Thales extends its transportation footprint in the region with cutting-edge urban transportation technology and integration expertise developed and initiated in Singapore.
Thales currently operates a CBTC Simulation Facility, together with LTA & SMRT, which is designed to simulate the reliability and robustness of Thales’ signaling system, using different test scenarios. Additionally, Thales also delivered signaling solutions to Canberra MRT station, Singapore’s newest MRT station serving 17,000 households, built on the existing North-South Line.
