Home to 650 million people and a burgeoning middle class, South East Asia's digital economy is expected to surpass USD240 billion [approximately 212 billion Euros] by 2050, making it one of the world's fastest-growing regions. To drive the long-term development and big ambitions of the region's economies in an increasingly digital world, Thales has announced the appointment of Nicolas Bouverot as Vice-President for Thales in South East Asia. His geographical remit includes the ten ASEAN markets, as well as Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka and Timor Leste.
Nicolas brings with him over 25 years of professional expertise in strategy, business development and general management. Prior to joining Thales, Nicolas was the Vice-President for the South Asia region at Nokia, with oversight for sales, delivery operations, R&D activities, Centres of Excellences and a Customer Cloud Collaboration facility.
"Nicolas is a seasoned leader with rich international experience and a solid track record in Asia, and we are delighted to welcome him to the Thales Group," said Pascale Sourisse, Thales Senior Executive Vice-President, International Development. "Digital disruption is changing how consumers, businesses and governments collaborate. We believe that Nicolas' extensive experience in the telecommunications industry will bring a fresh perspective in how we support and deploy high-value solutions to our customers in the region. ASEAN is a booming market for us, and we are confident that Nicolas will help us drive the next phase of growth in the region," she added.
Throughout his international career with Lucent, Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia, Nicolas held several leadership roles including Managing Director of Lucent Technologies France and Alcatel-Lucent Vice-President for the Middle East, based in Dubai. He has a deep understanding of Asia, having spent over 12 years in various assignments and management roles in Indonesia, China and Japan, prior to moving to Singapore in 2016. Nicolas succeeds Frederique Miller, who has been promoted to take on the role of Vice-President for Sales for the Land & Air Systems activities within Thales, based in France.
Nicolas holds a Masters of Telecommunications from Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (France) and an International Business Masters from INSEAD and Lyon Business School (France). He resides with his family in Singapore.
