Thales technology for Orense station

Thales participates in the project of the new Orense station to allow the arrival of high-speed trains

Thales and Ferrovial consortium have participated to the adaptation of the rail yard and platforms of the Orense station so that the current operation of the terminal is compatible with the arrival of high-speed trains. Thales has put into service the new electronic interlocking of the Orense station and has made the modifications to the Conventional and High Speed Centralized Traffic Controls (CTC).

All the works have been carried out by a team of more than 30 people, trying to minimize the impact on the normal circulation of the station. Orense is the station of Galicia with the largest number of long distance travelers reaching almost one million a year. It also has intense middle distance traffic and connects with the main Galician cities, as well as with the meseta: Ponferrada, León, Madrid, Valladolid and Ávila.

The next milestone will come with the installation of traffic control, automatic train protection, telecommunications and security technologies of the Olmedo-Orense high-speed section, depending on another contract in which Adif has relied again with Thales technology for the arrival of high speed trains to the station through a third track, with a double wide track.
Thales is very pleased to be able to further support Adif, connecting people on their journeys, always in safety and great comfort.
