Dr. Béatrice Pesquet-Popescu joined Thales Air Mobility Solutions in January 2018 as the Research and Innovation Director, where she defines and implements the artificial intelligence (AI) strategy and manages innovation in this field. She is also Co-Chair of the joint EUROCAE WG114/SAE SG34 standardisation committee for AI in aeronautics systems. Her team showcases data-based algorithms and services, and integrates these machine learning modules into the solutions that Thales develops. Previously, she was Full Professor and Head of the Multimedia Group at Telecom ParisTech, and was also the Head of the Ubimedia Common Research Laboratory between Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs Paris, and the Institut Télécom.
Dr. Pesquet-Popescu is a Fellow of both IEEE and EURASIP, has been elected as a member of the board of governors of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, as well as a EURASIP BoG Member and member of the French GRETSI board of directors. She has also been the Chair of two IEEE SPS Technical Committees on Signal Processing.
Béatrice Pesquet-Popescu has been an Associate Editor for seven international journals, was the Technical Co-Chair of two conferences, and the General Co-Chair for three international conferences. She was a recipient of the Young Reseacher Award from the French Physics Society in 1998, and of several best paper awards. She holds over 35 patents, and has co-authored four books and over 400 book chapters, journals, and conference papers, as well as (co)-directing 35 PhD theses.
