Béatrice PESQUET-POPESCU

Beatrice Pesquet-Popescu joined the Air Mobility Solutions (AMS) business in January 2018 where she defined and implemented the artificial intelligence (AI) strategy. Her team developed data-driven algorithms and services and integrated these machine learning modules into AMS products. Since April 2022, Beatrice has joined the Surface Radar business, to contribute to the design of the new generation of radars and the integration of new technologies in this product line. Between 2021 and 2022 she was in charge of Thales innovation in the future SCAF air combat system program.

She is also co-chair of the EUROCAE WG114/SAE SG34 joint standardization committee for the certification of AI in aeronautical systems. Previously, Béatrice Pesquet-Popescu was professor and head of the Multimedia group at Telecom ParisTech; she also led the joint research laboratory Ubimedia between Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs Paris and Institut Telecom. 

IEEE and EURASIP Fellow, Béatrice Pesquet-Popescu was elected member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Board of Directors and was a member of the EURASIP BoG and the French GRETSI CA.  She has also chaired two IEEE SPS technical committees on data processing and is a member of the IEEE SPS Fellows selection committee. Béatrice Pesquet-Popescu has been an associate editor of seven international journals, technical co-chair of two conferences and general co-chair of three international conferences. She received the French Physical Society's Young Researcher Award in 1998 and several awards for her scientific papers. She holds more than 35 patents, has co-authored four books and more than 400 book chapters, journal articles and conference papers, and has (co-)directed 35 PhD theses.
