Sophie LE PENNEC

Sophie Le Pennec's expertise is in the areas of health, personal safety and the environment and she has chaired various working groups and commissions in these areas.

She is developing the Group's HSE strategy and in particular piloting the strategy for a low carbon future.

She is currently a member of the board of directors of the IAEG (International Aerospace & Defense Environmental Group), chairs its strategic committee and is the president of the environment and sustainable development commission of GIFAS (Groupement des industries françaises de l'aéronautique et du spatial).

She worked for the Eramet Group for sixteen years as Director of Environment, Industrial Risks and Product Responsibility. She was a member of the BBOP (Biodiversity & Business Offset Program) for five years and chair of its executive committee for two years. She was chair of the consortium of the European working group on health and environmental risk assessment for nickel for nine years and chair of the Health, Safety and Environment Commission group of the French Association of Mines, Minerals and Metals (A3M).

Sophie Le Pennec is a recognised expert in the field of CSR risk management in the context of major international projects. She has contributed to the drafting of a number of regulatory texts in the fields of responsible mining, hazardous substances, mining codes and environmental codes.

She was also a member of the scientific and technical advisory group of the Nickel Institute and chair of the consortium of the technical working group on nickel (ten years) and on Mn within the International Manganese Institute.
