Thales proud to sponsor RAF Netball ahead of Cosford tournament

Thales UK is proud to be supporting the Royal Air Force Netball Association for the 2015/2016 season where the squad will be competing wearing a new Thales-branded kit.

A key industry partner for the UK Ministry of Defence, Thales supports military sports and events across all three services. We are also long-standing supporters of all three military charity benevolent funds.

The RAF netball squad will be competing in a range of competitions across the season, including a major 15 team tournament to be held at RAF Cosford on February 21st.   Teams will be drawn from the RAF, including a Masters or Over-35 Team, as well as civilian competitors from the Birmingham area and Lincolnshire.

The squad are also highlighting the link to the 'This Girl Can' campaign currently being run by Sport England, as they have women of all ages, shapes and sizes giving up their weekend to commit it to the sport they love.
This event is a key part of the build up to the Inter-services Netball Tournament to be held 4-6th March, where the RAF netball squad will face the Army and Navy teams. More information on RAF Netball can be found on their Facebook page.

Sport in the RAF provides encouragement for physical fitness, and contributes to military effectiveness by encouraging personal qualities such as courage, resilience, team spirit and has a significant effect on morale. Sport is an integral part of the RAF ethos.

Netball is a ‘Recognised Sport’ in the RAF under the terms of the RAF Sports Board, the official service body which is responsible for policy, providing guidance to volunteer sporting committees and also administers funding for sport.
